Way, Andrew John Henry

Andrew John Henry Way was born in 1826 in Washington, D.C. and studied with Alfred J. Miller in the United States and with visiting artist Emanuel Leutze in 1860. After Leutze’s visit, Way changed his focus from portraits to still life painting. He received the medal for “Excellence in Still Life” at the Philadelphia Centennial Exhibition in 1876.
